"The five senses transcribed into painting"
Stéphanie ALIKI has developed a unique approach to abstraction by creating what she calls "synesthetic painting". Her work explores the correspondences between the senses: how a color can evoke a sound, how a shape can suggest a texture, how a composition can translate a tactile emotion.
Graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she quickly asserted a singular voice in the landscape of contemporary art. Her canvases of various formats, true chromatic symphonies, invite the viewer to a total sensory experience where sight becomes the gateway to all human perceptions.
Her creative process, both meticulous and intuitive, often begins with a precise sensory experience - a scent, a melody, a tactile sensation - which she then translates into pictorial language. The Lambrecth Foundation preserves several of her major works, including the "Échos Sensoriels" which mark a decisive turning point in her career.
